David is a Partner in the firm's Litigation and Employment Law teams. He acts for Pursuers of personal injury claims in both the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session. He has a wide range of experience in personal injury actions from road traffic accidents to accidents at work and industrial disease claims. In addition David heads up the firm’s Clinical Negligence team.
As well as personal injury litigation David also acts for the firm's commercial clients in a wide range of commercial litigation.
David also regularly represents both claimants and respondents in Employment Tribunals.
David is a member of the UK Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL)
Head of Corporate Team
I am a corporate finance and commercial lawyer. I lead the Corporate team at Dallas McMillan, and advise private investors, business owners and funders both domestically and internationally on all aspects of corporate transactions including business and share sales, management buy-outs and private equity investments. I regularly advise on restructurings, both solvent and insolvent and enjoy a broad mix of mainstream corporate matters such as joint ventures, shareholders agreements, terms and conditions of business and all types of commercial contracts often with a cross-border or multi-jurisdictional focus.
I have a particular interest in equity based fundraising for technology companies in the venture capital market and act for some of UK's most active business angels and venture capital funds, many of whom invest in Scotland as part of matched funding rounds with Scottish Enterprise and other sources of public funding.
I regularly advise on shareholder, director and partnership disputes whether by negotiation or in conjunction with my litigation colleagues. I am often involved in director's disqualification actions and deal with money laundering investigations and implementing client due diligence measures, internal controls and monitoring systems.
I enjoyed a successful secondment to the European legal team of an International banking institution This experience enables me to advise borrowers and lenders in relation to syndicated lending, acquisition and project finance, debt solutions, securitisation and restructurings from both perspectives.

- Re-organisation, sale and shareholder earn-out of regulated company – Completion March 2013;
- Reorganisation and corporate simplification of global flight operator – Completion February 2013.
Gordon is a highly regarded,experienced and dedicated Lawyer. He specialises in personal injury claims of all types, including claims arising out of accidents (at work, in public places and in vehicles) and from the contraction of asbestos-related diseases, industrial deafness, Vibration White Finger and other occupational diseases.
He has also acted for clients in a wide range of commercial and consumer litigations, such as commercial lease disputes, liquidations and obtaining interdicts. He also oversees the firm's successful debt recovery department.
Gordon has considerable experience and expertise in Employment Law and regularly conducts employment tribunals for clients. He also advises trade unions officials and members on employment and trade union law.
Gordon is a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Specialist in personal injury law and is a Senior Litigator member of the UK Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Joyce joined the firm in 1988 and is head of the Private Client Unit. She is involved in the residential housing market within the Firm including purchases, sales, remortgages and residential leases.
Joyce also deals with a broad range of private client work including wills and executries, inheritance tax and tax planning, as well as issues relating to incapacity and the elderly.
Head of Commercial Property
Forbes is the managing partner of Dallas McMillan and has wide experience of commercial related business spanning a period of over 30 years, specifically in commercial property leasing, real estate development and investment work.
He is involved in many large land development projects and investment transactions throughout Scotland. Forbes has particular expertise in Commercial Real Estate Development, Real Estate Purchases and Sales for Investment and for Owner Occupation, Landlord and Tenant Work, Corporate Acquisitions and Disposals, Planning Work, Property Dispute Resolution and Real Estate Financing.
Forbes was a Partner in McGrigor Donald, Solicitors, and thereafter a main Board Director in a Development Company. He was and remains involved in Development Work which includes not only Sheltered Housing Schemes but also McDonalds, KFC, B&Q and Halfords. He is also involved in differing variety of agreements in relation to Distribution Licenses and Franchising Options.
He has had the benefit through experience of being a main Board Director in a Development Company in ascertaining the requirements of the client and considers this fully with the legal aspects of the transaction. This enables commercial decisions to be taken to ensure that transactions proceed where they are of benefit to all concerned.
He has recently been involved in a number of Pension Company transactions and a number of large Sporting Estates in Scotland which included consideration of the various rights and obligations in connection with forestry land, small holdings and single farm subsidies.
Forbes also specialises in transactions involving licensed and leisure property and regularly advises Banks, Landlords and other Financial Institutions in relation to the taking of security over these types of properties.
