Compensation Awarded for Motorbike Accident

A motorcyclist has been awarded compensation amounting to around £10 million for serious brain injuries he sustained in a road traffic accident, reports the Mirror.

Marcel Beasley received the injuries in 2009, when he was aged 25. He was on his motorbike and overtaking a line of slow moving traffic when a car suddenly pulled out in front of him. Mr Beasley crashed into the door of the car and was flung off his bike, losing his helmet as he fell.

He suffered traumatic brain injuries and had to spend 15 months at a specialist brain injury unit. He now has to use a wheelchair and is reliant on 24-hour care.

The judge found that the car driver was fully responsible for the accident and the injuries suffered by Mr Beasley, and awarded him a £4.27 million lump sum to help him buy a specially adapted home. In addition, Mr Beasley will receive annual payments of £175,000 to meet the costs of his full-time care needs.
